At SALT our goal is to support every link in the literary translation chain, from acquisition to production to promotion. Translators
SALT is delighted to announce our second cohort of eight mentorships as part of the American Literary Translators Association’s Emerging Translators Mentorship Program. This year, mentorships are available in Bangla, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Telugu, and Urdu, along with one mentorship comprising non-language-specific premodern, classical or early modern literature. (Mentorships in previous years have been filled in Malayalam, Nepali, Panjabi, Tamil, and non-language specific poetry.) Deadline is 30 November; learn more here.
Translators based outside of South Asia are invited at regular intervals to apply for sample grants and travel grants.

Publishers
Publishers outside of South Asia are invited to apply for a translation grant under a biannual program conducted in partnershop with English PEN – PEN Translates. Deadline 20 November 2025. More information.
Additional opportunities for publishers in 2025 will include translation grants, travel grants, and promotion grants for publishers outside South Asia, and publishing workshops for publishers in South Asia.
