At SALT our goal is to support every link in the literary translation chain, from acquisition to production to promotion. Translators
SummerSALT summer school – for emerging literary translators working from South Asian languages – will be held August 5-9, 2024, in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Applications closed March 15, 2024. Learn more here.
SALT is delighted to announce the first cohort of eight mentorships as part of the American Literary Translators Association’s Emerging Translators Mentorship Program. Mentorships have been filled in Bangla, Hindi, Malayalam, Nepali, Panjabi, Tamil, Urdu, along with non-language-specific poetry. Learn more here.
Translators based outside of South Asia will be able to apply for sample grants and travel grants starting in 2024.
Publishers
Publishers outside of South Asia can apply for a travel grant for travel undertaken between October 2023 and June 2024. Applications for 2023 closed in September. More information.
Additional opportunities for publishers in 2023-24 include translation grants for publishers outside South Asia and publishing workshops for publishers in South Asia. Promotion grants for publishers outside South Asia will begin in 2024-25.
